WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is waiting for a decision to be made on a possible fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

The odds of Mayweather-Pacquiao actually taking place are slim.

Canelo and his team are ready to sit down and negotiate a fight with Mayweather.

“We spoke with Golden Boy and told them we are ready for May 5," says Edison Reynoso, manager and trainer of Canelo. “It would be a huge fight. We have to sit down and negotiate. We’re open to fighting with ‘Money’ Mayweather”

Edison believes that Canelo's star power in Mexico, and his growing status in the United States, can generate a lot of money for Mayweather and his people for a May fight.

“On Tuesday or Wednesday [of next week], we are looking to travel to Los Angeles to negotiate with Golden Boy for a potential fight with Mayweather - in the event that nothing happens with Pacquiao, or they can't make fight with another opponent. In fact, we are ready to fight Mayweather, [Miguel] Cotto or even Pacquiao."

Eric Gomez, head matchmaker at Golden Boy, said Mayweather was provided with necessary information pertaining to a potential fight with Canelo, but Mayweather has the final decision on the opponent.
