As previously reported, cruiserweight Shane Cameron is pursuing a fight with heavyweight contender Monte Barrett. Cameron is willing to move back to heavyweight for a chance to accomplish something that his arch-rival, David Tua, was unable to do - beat Barrett. Tua knocked Cameron out in two rounds in 2009. After the loss, Cameron dropped down to Tua. Barrett fought Tua to a controversial draw in 2010 and won a unanimous decision in their recent rematch.
According to Cameron's manager Ken Reinsfield, an offer of $100,000 plus a share of television sales was offered to Barrett, but the heavyweight veteran reportedly countered with a demand for $200,000, an amount of money that Cameron's team is not going to match. Reinsfield believes Barrett was paid "around $80,000" for the Tua rematch.
