Devon Alexander arrived in Las Vegas on Saturday to begin his training camp for his defense of his junior welterweight IBF/WBC titles versus Andriy Kotelnik. Alexander had already began training in his hometown of St. Louis.
Alexander will get his altitude training in via early morning runs up Mount Charleston just outside of Las Vegas. "I love getting out to Vegas and breathing the mountain air. The altitude really helps me get prepared for my fights." In addition to altitude training Las Vegas offers premier sparring and helps eliminate distractions of home.
Team Alexander will be staying in a familiar setting. They will be staying at a home owned by Don King that was used by Mike Tyson for his training camps during his prime. They also stayed there when they trained for Juan Urango.
Alexander versus Kotelnik takes place on August 7th in Alexander's hometown of St. Louis. The fight serves as the main event that is being broadcasted by HBO with Tavoris Cloud versus Glen Johnson as the televised co-feature.
