Tension has been growing between Team Devon Alexander and Team Tim Bradley since Alexander scored an 8th round knock out of former IBF junior welterweight champion Juan Urango.  Bradley's promoter, Gary Shaw responded to comments made by Alexander's manager, Kevin Cunningham, on Tuesday.  Shaw said that he thinks the fight should happen but that Bradley already has a fight scheduled for June 26th, Alexander has to wait until after that.

Shaw went on to say that it didn't matter that Alexander has two belts because Bradley is still the best fighter at 140 pounds.

Cunningham contacted BoxingScene.com to respond to Gary Shaw.  "First off all I want to send my condolences to the Shaw family for their recent loss (Shaw's father recently passed away).  Shaw said that it didn't matter how many belts Devon has because Bradley is still the best junior welterweight in the world.  I beg to differ."

Tim Bradley is facing Luis Abregu on June 19th in his HBO debut.  Alexander has a date in July or August set aside by HBO for his next bout.  The leading canidates to be his opponent are Marcos Maidana if he gets past Victor Cayo on Saturday and Zab Judah.

Cunningham went on to say, "I go on the different websites and see what they are writing and I also read the blogs and the forums.  The fans have spoken.  After Pacquiao versus Mayweather, Alexander versus Bradley is the fight the fans want to see most.  Devon wants the fans to be happy and he wants to give them the fights they want.  Bradley can fight his tune up and we will sign to fight him at the end of the year now.  We don't need to clean out the whole division first to fight him.  He can fight his tune up this summer and then we fight in the summer and then we can give the fans a Christmas present with Alexander versus Bradley before the year is out.  We are willing to sign for that fight now."
