BoxingScene.com recently reported that an agreement had been reached for IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey to face former unified junior welterweight champ Devon Alexander on September 8th. The fight will be televised by Showtime.
The venue still hasn't been decided but Bailey took to Twitter account and told Alexander "don't count on fighting in your hometown. Pack your bags."
Alexander routinely draws well in his native St. Louis, MO and in nearby St. Charles so fighting at home is surely one of the options under consideration.
Bailey won his title in impressive fashion with a brutal one punch knockout of Mike Jones in Las Vegas. Alexander's manager and trainer Kevin Cunningham found Bailey's demands amusing as he had previously said that he would knock Alexander out.
"If he believes he's going to KO Devon, who cares where the fight takes place?" Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
Cunningham went on to say that it doesn't matter where the fight takes place because the outcome will still be the same.
"We will fight Randall Bailey on Mars if we have to. It doesn't matter where the fight is. Come September 8th, he's getting his ass whooped," Cunningham confidently stated.
