A source close to the situation has informed BoxingScene that a rematch between middleweight champion Jermain Taylor and Ronald "Winky" Wright, is close to being finalized.

The terms have been agreed upon by both parties, but contracts have not been signed. It is expected that both sides could very well sign the contracts as early as this week. Both sides appear confident that the fight will be signed.

While the proposed pay-per-view fight date would fall on December 2, a date reserved for Winky Wright by HBO, fans should not be surprised if the rematch is pushed back to January.

The reason for the January date would have to do with three pay-per-view events currently scheduled in the month of November (Mayweather-Baldomir, Holyfield-Oquendo, and Pacquiao-Morales 3).

There are those behind the scenes that see it as a big financial risk to hold the pay-per-view on December 2, because it would make it the fourth $45-50 dollar pay-per-view in a span of a month, and by that time most people are setting aside money for the big December holiday season.
