Tensions have gone way beyond the boiling point between Australian rivals Anthony Mundine and Shannan Taylor, who clash on February 11 at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong, Australia. At a recent press conference, the two fighters exchanged plenty of verbal punches. The tension got so hot - that Taylor told Mundine to forget about their upcoming fight and challenged him to throw down at the press conference. Taylor's handlers had to calm him down and the presser ended early.
"That's why little old ladies hate you. That's why 95 per cent of the country don't like you," Taylor shouted, as quoted by the Canberrera Times.
Mundine responded.
"That's why I can't come to Wollongong without people telling me to knock you out. Most of them will be there cheering me on," Mundine said.
Mundine's response set Taylor off.
"You want to do it now? You want to get paid for it or you want to do it for free?" - Taylor shouted as he pounded a table.
As reported recently on BoxingScene.com, Mundine was limping at the presser due to an injured hip. He plans to go forward with the fight.
After the fight is over, Taylor doesn't want to hear any excuses about Mundine's hip.
"I read about his sore hip today but there's no excuses. I've get a sore back, too," Taylor said. "I'm pushing hard in the gym, I just ran up Bulli Pass and back down again and then I sparred in the afternoon. That's no lie, go and ask the people bipping their horns as I was going up."
