On Monday, May 25, Shamir Petrosyan, a relatively new face in Russian boxing, staged his next card at Volta Club in Moscow with some undefeated prospects taking their parts in.
Undefeated cruiserweight prospect Ruslan Faifer (now 7-0, 3 KOs) got his second kayo win in a row with a dominant stoppage of the Uzbek import Farrukh Madaminov (1-4-1, 1 KO). Madaminov was down in the first and stopped at 1:11 of the second round. Faifer’s biggest victory came against former two-time world-title challenger Yuri Barashyan (27-6 at the time) the last year. He is 3-0, 2 Kos, in 2015.
On the same card, recently crowned Russian welterweight champion Vaginak Tamrazyan (8-0, 2 KOs) beat the second undefeated boxer this year. The first one was 13-0 Alexander Filichkin, who was edged on a split nod for a vacant 147lb national title in March. Now it was Alexander Sharonov (6-1, 3 KOs, after), who was toppled with a unanimous decision. Scores were: 80-73, 79-74, 79-74 – all for Tamrazyan.
Also, super featherweight Valery Tretyakov (3-0, 2 KOs) was forced to go the distance for the first time in his three-month long pro career, outpointing Uzbek Sherzodbek Mamadjonov (9-11-4, 6 KOs) over six with identical scores: 60-53. Mamadjonov was down in the fifth. Next for Tretyakov is a test in Spain, on June 19 against experienced Venezuelan veteran Franklin Varela (21-18, 10 KOs).
