Quebec prospect Wilkens Mathieu will experience his first professional fight on the road on March 29 at the Collective Arts Brewery in Hamilton against the experienced Ricardo Luna in an eight-round bout.
"I’m grateful to Eye of the Tiger for seeking out external opportunities to keep me active despite the cancellation of the March 14 event. Hamilton won’t be the same as Quebec City, Shawinigan, or Montreal, but I’m excited for the experience. I’m also eager to test myself at the elite level against a guy with experience at this stage," said Wilkens Mathieu.
With 185 professional rounds under his belt, Ricardo "Tyson" Luna, 27-12-2 (17 KOs), is no stranger to tough challenges. The former Mexican champion has gone the full 10 rounds against Japanese champion Ryota Murata and American contender D'Mitrius Ballard, and he also fought to a draw against former world title challenger Vyacheslav Shabranskyy.
As for Wilkens Mathieu, 12-0 (8 KOs), this will be his first fight of 2025 after an impressive 2024 campaign in which he fought—and won—seven times, making him the most active boxer in Canada. At just 20 years old, he is regarded by some as one of the top super middleweight prospects in the world. The protégé of Mike Moffa was also named Eye of the Tiger’s 2023 Rookie of the Year.
Mathieu vs. Luna, set at a 172 lb catchweight, will take place on a six-fight card presented by Three Lions Promotions. In the main event, Canadian middleweight champion John Michael Bianco will defend his title for the first time against Brett ‘Bad Boy’ Beaton. In the co-main event, following Wilkens Mathieu’s bout, Ontario prospect Triston Brookes will square off against hard-hitting Ghanaian fighter Daniel Amomba.
It will be broadcast live on BXNGTV.com starting at 7:00 PM
