World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman wants heavyweight Vitali Klitschko to be one of the stars of Mexico’s bi-centenary celebrations.
Don Jose says it’s his dream for Vitali to defend his WBC Heavyweight Title at the pre-hispanic Pyramids at Teotihuacan. The site which includes the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, is twenty five miles to the North East of Mexico City.
The preferred date for the bi-centenary fight night would fall in September and hopefully include both Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. contesting world titles on the same bill.
Mexico gained Independence from Spain in 1810, and the Mexican Revolution started in 1910. So there’s a lot to celebrate in Mexico in this coming year.
Don Jose says that Vitali is the best heavyweight in the world, and it would be fantastic for him to star in the Battle at the Pyramids.
In other and more current news, Don Jose said that Mexico’s Guty Espadas Jr will fight Featherweight Champion Elio Rojas of the Dominican Republic in Merida, Yucatan. The bout is being penciled in for late January.
