During some recent talks with media members overseas, WBC president Jose Sulaiman said the United States, Mexico and Japan are leading the way in boxing, due to the heavy amount of shows, activity and title fights in each respective country.

He called Mexico a special country for boxing, and said the Unites States, due to heavy resources and money, is the world leader in the sport. He says Puerto Rico, Germany and Thailand are also hotbeds for the sport, with a heavy amount of shows being held in each country, and the number of star athletes and champions coming out of each country is rising at a high rate.

Sulaiman admits that some mega-bouts are taking place without any real title belts or sanctioning bodies being involved, with a direct finger being pointed at last month's clash between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton. Without dropping names, he says certain promoters are trying to eliminate the sanctioning bodies.
