World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman says he’ll propose a boxing World Cup at the upcoming WBC Convention, which will be held in Cancun October 31-November 6.
The aim is to identify up and coming stars in the sport and to provide them an international forum to show what they can do. Sulaiman says that the mainstays of this World Cup would be the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Japan and Mexico, but other nations are also very welcome.
He’s suggesting the professional boxing World Cup tournament could be established to cover the featherweight and middleweight divisions. National champions could compete towards a grand final.
