WBC Secretary General Mauricio Sulaiman says that WBA heavyweight vhampion will have to pull off the fight of his life to have any chance of defeating either of the Klitschko brothers.....especially Vitali.
The brothers have issued a Christmas Day challenge to David Haye, bluntly warning him that either of them is ready and willing to take him on. Avid chess players - the Klitschkos have been moved to peaked annoyance by Haye's touting of his boxing prowess, but more specifically and personally enfuriated to the point of being livid, with the infamous t-shirt, depicting him holding their severed heads.
Haye was set to fight younger brother Wladimir in 2009, but had to pull out with a back injury.
Mauricio said David Haye has unquestioningly proved himself as a worthy cruiserweight champion. And he did show great promise by defeating the giant Nikolai Valuev to capture the WBC title. But he added that the defence against aging John Ruiz proved little, and the Audley Harrison fiasco was a sheer embarrassment, which proved to be very bad for the sport of boxing right across the board.
Mauricio suggests that if David really wants to define himself as a heavyweight champion of champions, he WILL have to fight a Klitschko.
Praising WBC Champion Vitali, who holds an awesome 97 percent knockout record, Mauricio stressed David would have to have his best night ever in a boxing ring to have any chance of winning.
WBO, IBO and IBF Champion Wladimir is currently recovering from a stomach muscle strain which meant that his December 11th fight against Britain's Derek Chisora, had to be called off.
Vitali must next take on Cuban Odlanier Solis, who defeated Ray Austin in a final eliminator by way of a tenth round disqualification. That compulsory defense should happen in the first quarter of the coming year. But the WBC has indicated that after that, he can enjoy a voluntary defence.
