Highly regarded light heavyweight power hitter Dmitry Sukhotskiy (17-1, 12 KOs) is set to return to the squared circle on October 8 at the Typhoon sport club in St. Petersburg, Russia. The WBO's #1 ranked Russian fighter, who is also rated #9 by the WBA and #11 by the IBF, will put his WBO I/C belt at stake against another smooth operator in French technician Nadjib Mohammedi (24-2, 12 KOs).
Both fighters are known for their inspiring performances in WBO title fights. Sukhotskiy put then-WBO champion Juergen Braehmer on the brink of defeat in December 2009, almost stopping the German with a barrage of punches in the ninth round, but only to see his effort nullified by some controversial refereeing from Michael Ortega. He is 3-0, with 3 KOs, since then. Mohammedi, on the other hand, gave hell to WBO interim champion Nathan Cleverly a year after in a close loss.
