The roster for the upcoming installment of the Nikolay Valuev Cup on March 11 in Kemerovo, Russia, is slowly shaping up. In the main event of the evening, highly regarded light heavyweight contender and EBA champion Dmitry Sukhotskiy (16-1, 11 KOs), who is ranked #7 by the WBA, #8 by the WBO and #14 by the IBF, will take on tough but limited Poland-based Ukrainian Roman Shkarupa (24-2-2, 8KOs). Several minor but valuable trinkets will possibly be at stake in this collision.
This show will also see a comeback of dominant Russian cruiserweight Grigoriy Drozd (32-1, 23 KOs). Drozd, who was once ranked in the first six of every major sanctioning body, was last seen in the ring more than a year and a half ago when he stopped rugged American brawler Darnell Wilson. Also on the card will be a clash between two rising prospects, when Tajik welterweight Sherali Mamadaliev (11-1, 7 KOs) will go toe-to-toe against Kazakh Aset Aysin (6-0, 3 KOs). An entire card is arranged by Alexander Yagupov of Colosseum Box-Promotion alongside German Titov and Kirill Phcelnikov.
