Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super-featherweight champ, Randy "Kamaong Bato" Suico, will resort to making another title defense before the end of the year. He  hopes to make up for the unexpected loss he recently suffered in the United States and keep his lofty position in WBC rankings.

This is what Suico’s Japanese manager, Joe Koizumi, has in mind after the hard-hitting WBC No. 3 contender lost a majority decision to former IBF lightweight champion Javier Jauregui on Sept. 23 in Los Angeles, California.

Suico (23-2 with 20 knockouts) is actually obliged to fight the top available contender with his belt on the line.

The problem is the No. 1 ranked and mandatory challenger is Indon Victor Mausul. Masusul happens to be the reigning WBO Asia Pacific champion in his division and is not keen on facing Suico. The Indon champion is slated to put his title up against Cebu-based, Bohol native Caesar Amonsot on Sept. 29 in Jakarta and might be eyeing a chance for WBO world title if he wins.

And the fight against No. 2 ranked Bobby Pacquiao looks bleak as the brother of Manny Pacquiao looks for bigger opportunities. Pacquiao is slated to face tough Carlos Alberto Hernandez in a WBC super featherweight eliminator at the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 8.

Suico might be forced to pick any challenger in the top 10, possibly No. 4 ranked Young Bum Lee of Korea. There are three Japanese fighters, two Thais, an Australian and another Indon in the top 10 rankings of the division.

Suico made his third and fourth title defenses in succession against Indon Ibrahim Aroby and Thai Muangfahlek Kiatwichean, after he took the first defeat in his boxing career in a WBC eliminator against Mzonke Fana in May 2004.

Koizumi plans to send the 25-year old fighter from Mandaue City to Australia for training.

There’s no definite location for where Suico will enhance his skills down under.

Suico won the OPBF 130-lb throne on April 24, 2002, after scoring a sixth round knockout of South Korean Sung-Ho Yuh, in Cebu City.
