Subriel Matias (11-0, 11 KOs), the pride of the Maternillo neighborhood, will return to the ring on Saturday, October 27 at the Lakefront Arena in the city of New Orleans in Louisiana, as a substitute for the 'World Boxing Super Series '(WBSS) in the junior welterweight division.
The promoter of Fresh Productions Boxing, Juan Orengo informed that, "Subriel will fight on October 27 in New Orleans against a good opponent that we will announce in the coming days, the winner will continue to see action in all the fights supporting the tournament and against good opponents.
"If for some reason, one of the boxers in the tournament suffers an injury that does not allow him to meet the next established date, then Subriel would enter, but like everything else, he has to win the fight on the 27th."
Matias began to stand out in professional boxing in his fourth professional fight, when he defeated by technical knockout, in the second round, the more experienced Jeffrey Fontánez from Caguas, who at that time had a record of 16 victories, of which 12 were on the fast track with only two defeats.
After Fontánez, Matías continued with convincing victories by way of the knockout over former Venezuelan Olympian Patrick López, the Brazilian strong puncher Joaquim Carneiro, world title challenger Breidis Prescott of Colombia and the Mexican Adrián 'Diamante' Estrella.
The New Orleans undercard will have as part of the 'WBSS' quarter-finals, which is headlined on that day with fight between the interim-WBC 140-pound champion Regis Prograis (22-0, 19 KOs) and former world champion Terry Flanagan (33-1, 13 KOs),
In a duel that will be for the WBC Diamond title and the co-featured fight, Ivan Baranchyk (18-0, 11 KOs) will collide with Anthony Yigit (21-0-1, 7 KOs) for the vacant world title of the IBF at 140 pounds.
Both of the fights will be carried by the streaming service DAZN.
