WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm has promised to get a measure of revenge when he faces American rival Randy Griffin on Saturday at the Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle, Germany. The two fought to a draw last October. Sturm battered undefeated Jamie Pittman in April, while Griffin has not seen action since their October meeting. Sturm was upset with the draw decision and plans to start quicker to leave nothing in doubt.
"The draw made me very mad. This time I plan to start quicker from the first round and hit him with a lot of clean punches. I'm in good shape and ready to fight. The belt will stay with me," Sturm said.
Griffin is also against another draw, but he wants to end the fight with a knockout.
"In round ten or eleven, Sturm will be on the ground. This time I will knock him out. We have a set strategy that I plan to follow. My mission is to bring the title back to America," Griffin said.
In the heavyweight ranks, Luan Krasniqi is urging Universum's Klaus-Peter Kohl to get him back in the ring as soon as possible. Since his announced return to the ring, a variety of big fights have fallen apart for the German star. Krasniqi is in jeopardy of losing his ranking positions among some of the overseas sanctioning bodies.
"I want to return as soon as possible. I need to get myself into a fight against a top-ten opponent if possible. Universum, as a promoter, must do something for me. I want to fight," Krasniqi said.
