BACOOR, Cavite in the Philippines will host a boxing event that will pit three pairs of bouts between Filipinos and South Koreans on June 9.
Two fast rising Filipino knockout artists named Rey Labao and Drian Francisco will clash against equally hard-hitting former Korean fighters, bantamweight king Sung-Kuk Kim and Jung-Jung Soo, respectively in the top of the card dubbed “Strike for Honor Philippines vs Korea”.
The third Korean, Eue-Jong Kim, takes on Laguna-based Elsie Quizon for the first ever World Boxing Empire (WBE) Asia Pacific lady flyweight championship as a special attraction on a card that will be televised by Ginebra San Miguel’s Ringside TV Boxing over ABC Channel 5.
The Korean boxers, who will be accompanied by seven others, are scheduled to arrive from Seoul Wednesday and will stay to the official hotel of the event, Manila Pavilion.
Three more bouts and “Bikini Babe Competition” is also a part of the bill which is supported by PCSO Director Strike Revilla, Ginebra San Miguel, Pagcor, Outlast Battery, Marty’s Restaurant, ABC Sports and Elorde Gyms.
The 5-foot-7 southpaw Labao, coming off in devastating 2nd round knockout win over Roberto Moreno in his first main event fight in Calauag town in Quezon province last May 22, is ranked No. 6 featherweight in the country and has unblemished record 10-0, 7 KOs.
Francisco, a stylish flyweight phenom from Mindoro, will make his back-to-back appearance at Cavite Coliseum after he took his third KO win in 6 starts without a defeat at that well-ventilated venue against Rene Nival on April 21.
