He wasn’t word perfect or suavely decked out in a tux. But he extracted them and the show, from a right state of amnesia and flux.

Two-weeks-ago, WBC employee Victor Perez was asked to step in at almost the last moment as ring announcer for "History in Cancun," which featured Maskaev vs. Peter in the main event. In what seemed to be a good old fashioned mix up of historic proportions, there was a lot of fumble and bumble about an MC who should have been on order, but got lost in the shuffle.

Victor who was already up to his eyes in sorting out tickets for VIPs, was asked at high noon if he’d step up to the plate. Never short of guts, he did just that, but didn’t have time to get everything in apple pie order, and initially verbally stumbled a trifle, before he got into his stride.

Several comfortably ensconced, but for the grace of….. studio pundits sneered, and incurred the back home wrath of Carely, Victor’s feisty ten-year-old duaghter whgo was glued to the television. She was especially incensed at some criticism from Televisa commentators.

Unabashed, Victor pressed on and improved.

Don King Productions admired the lad’s pluck and have sent him a check via special courier for a thousand American dollars.

Victor is planning to buy some new furniture for his dining room. He says that given a bit more notice, he could prepare his own notes, rehearse and be a lot more prepared next time.

He’s keeping his black shirt with a hotel name emblazed across it, plus the check from DKP, which he’ll cash, but also frame.
