BoxingScene.com recently caught up with WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne who will face his mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder in his next fight. A purse bid was scheduled for September 12th but was pushed back a mont by the WBC. Stiverne said that he isn't frustrated with the delay and holds out hope that the fight can still take place this year.
"That's what I'm getting ready for. If it doesn't happen by the end of this year that sucks but I have had to wait before. I am good at that (laughing). If you look at my career I have had several breaks and delays. What is one more?" Stiverne explained.
Stiverne suffered a pinched nerve in his title winning fight against Chris Arreola but said the injury is a thing of the past and that he is ready to fight when a date is finally announced.
"I feel great. The shoulder is fine and the injuries are in the past. I am ready to go now," Stiverne told BoxingScene.com.
