Heavyweight sensation Deontay Wilder has vowed to shock the world by taking the WBC world heavyweight title from Bermane Stiverne next month.
Unbeaten Wilder, who has so far stopped all of his 32 oponents and is yet to go beyond four rounds in a six-year professional career, faces his toughest assignment so far against Stiverne, who won the title by beating Chris Arreola in six rounds last May.
It promises to be an explosive encounter at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on January 17, with the winner putting himself in line for a crack at undisputed champion Wladimir Klitschko.
Haiti-born Stiverne (24-1-1 21K0s) at 36 is seven years older than his challenger and is not impressed by Wilder's record which has seen him fight for just 1.8 rounds per outing.
“He's fought nobody - but I always train like I'm fighting the best out there," said Stiverne. “As far as a game plan, all I can say is 'Don't Blink!'. Watch the action on January 17 as I can show you better than I can tell you.
“The belt is great, it's meant a lot but I'm still hungry. I still want more. Defending my title in Vegas at the MGM Grand is a dream. Nobody will beat me. This belt isn't going anywhere. January 17 is going to be a short night and it's going to be painful.”
