Another terrible mismatch has taken place in Australia where it seems no association cares about such dubious activities. In the latest example of a terrible mismatch, undefeated WBO Asia Pacific light welterweight champion Steven Wills, who has a record of 14-0 with 8 knockouts, scored a 2nd round knockout over Thai challenger Sanatanong Paiwan - who was making his professional debut in the Queensland fight card.

Ray Wheatley, an official of the International Boxing Federation, reported that it was obvious from the opening round that the Thai boxer was overmatched and the result was a mere formality.

Wills dropped the unknown Thai challenger once in the first round and twice in the second before referee Cyril Cairns stopped the one-sided bout at 1:55 of the second round.

Wills is ranked No. 11 in the world by the WBO which regrettably sanctions such mismatches.

The head of the WBO Asia Pacific region is Leon Panoncillo who is based in the organization’s regional  headquarters in Bangkok.
