According to Allan Tremblay, promoter of IBF junior featherweight champion Steve Molitor, the unification bout with WBA champion Celestino Caballero is moving forward as planned. The fight would take place in November, with Casino Rama in Canada getting the first crack at hosting the event.
Tremblay has a verbal deal in place with Caballero's promoter Warriors Boxing of Florida, but the contract terms have not been finalized. The promoter appears confident of the deal coming through now that the biggest hurdle has been overcome. Ontario requires that fighters weigh-in on the day of the fight, and Warriors had a big concern over that rule. Tremblay agreed to let both fighters weigh-in the day before the fight.
"We still have to cross the T's and dot the I's but right now I'm kind of constraining myself. I'm excited," Tremblay told the Toronto Sun. "But it's boxing. I don't want this to blow up in my face."
