Ontario boxer Steve Molitor (33-1-0), the current IBF super bantamweight world champion, had entered into a promotional agreement with United States promoter Top Rank for a period of four years.
The deal was worked out by his manager Cameron Dunkin Molitor and his Canadian promoter Allan Tremblay of Orion Canadian Sports Management. "Canadian Kid" Molitor will now likely face his aspiring mandatory, South African Takalani Ndlovu (31-6-0).
Recall that Molitor and Ndlovu have already clashed twice in the ring of Casino Rama, making it difficult to present a third fight in the same venue. Ndlovu became the mandatory on September 1 by way of a split decision over Jeffrey Mathebula (23-3-2).
During negotiations, Top Rank signed Molitor to a longer term than originally expected. Although new battles on Canadian soil are not excluded, Molitor should now at this point be fighting in the United States.
