Stable Lads Boxing is to make a big comeback in Britain to help horse racing welfare, with a bumper whip round, via a whip hand.

The event is returning after an absence of seven years. And to give it the sugar-with lumps, and spice, charismatic former WBC Welterweight Champion John H Stracey is organizing a championship between the True Brits and the Fighting Irish.

The bouts  which will unsurprisingly concentrate on the lower weight categories, and are open to anyone in the racing industry who fancies a ring tear up. The punchline aim is to attract competitors who are  confident they can win by a short head, photo finish or even a country mile. The event will come under starters’ orders at the world famous Cheltenham Festival in March.

John said: “Stable lads boxing gives everyone involved in horse racing, the once in a lifetime opportunity to fulfill their ambition of boxing in a safe way in front of an audience and the media.

“All bouts will be regulated under the rules of the European Boxing Federation. Larger gloves, and head guards will be used.”

Past events, which have attracted the cream of the racing industry’s crop, have been thrillers. So this should provide an incentive to companies and tycoons to turf out the lolly from their wallets to sponsor a fighter, a bout or even the whole competition.
