The latest Hollywoord trend of boxing related movies are not going to stop any time soon. According to several published reports, award winning movie producer and director, Spike Lee, is planning on making a film on heavyweight champion Joe Louis. The film will star Terrance Howard, who will take on the role of Joe Louis. Howard was nominated for a best actor Oscar for his lead role in critically acclaimed picture Hustle & Flow.
Louis, considered among many as the greatest heavyweight of all time, enjoyed a heavyweight title reign that lasted 12 years. Louis won the heavweight title in 1937 when he stopped James J. Braddock in eighth rounds. He was one of the combatants in arguably the most important event in the sport of boxing when he faced off with German fighter Max Schmeling, in June 1938, when America and Germany were involved in the second world war.
Louis passed away on April 12, 1981 at the age of 66, from heart failure.
