According to promoter Lou DiBella, unbeaten welterweight contender Errol Spence (20-0, 17KOs) will be ringside on June 25th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York - when WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs) defends his title against Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs).

Spence was in action at the very same venue on Saturday night, when he wiped out former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri in five rounds.

Last year, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was pushing for a fight between Thurman and Spence. Thurman rejected the idea, stating that he wasn't convinced Spence had accomplished enough to earn a title shot.

Spence is close to being ordered to receive a mandatory shot at IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook of Sheffield.

If Spence is unable to get an immediate shot at Brook, he is very interested in facing the winner of Thurman vs. Porter. All three fighters are advised by Al Haymon and all three are fighting under the Premier Boxing Champions banner.

With Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao announcing their retirements in recent months, the door is wide open for the younger welterweights to fight each other in order to establish the next kingpin at the weight.

"You just heard him say the truth. We also heard him say he’s not afraid of anybody. Who are you going to put in front of him who you think he can’t beat. This man has the potential to beat anyone in the world today - anyone. Thurman-Porter, which will be taking place in this building on June 25.....I’m sure [Spence is] going to be sitting ringside. The winner of that fight is going to have to look down in the crowd and see him,” said Dibella.
