August 26th is the date that the much discussed Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor crossover fight is slated to take place. The T-Mobile Arena on Las Vegas will play host to the mega-fight that will be distributed by Showtime Pay-Per-View.
Recently crowned IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence (22-0, 19 KOs) agrees with most experts who anticipate Mayweather will have an easy night's work when the ballyhooed fight takes place.
Spence, who sparred with Mayweather to help get him ready for his fight against Manny Pacquiao, doesn't believe the UFC superstar can learn boxing in such a short period of time.
The undefeated champion was very unimpressed after watching footage of McGregor struggling in sparring video against a mid-tier contender in the welterweight division. The fight with Mayweather takes place at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds and both will use 10-ounce gloves.
"Floyd is going to beat him. A lot of these guys have fought since they were 5 years old and they dedicated their life to it and they couldn't beat Floyd. Now a guy who's been boxing for a year and if you watched his sparring match versus the guy I beat (Chris Van Heerden) - he looked like trash - and now he thinks he's gonna beat Mayweather?," said Spence.
"I don't see it happening at all. I don't see him touching Floyd. If (Floyd). wants to stop him - he can stop him. You know how Floyd is, sometimes he might let it go 12. I see Floyd winning the fight."
This week, Mayweather and McGregor will go face to face for the first time when they come together to take part in a four city media tour that will span four countries. The tour begins on Tuesday, with stops in Los Angeles, New York City, London and Toronto.
