Former champion Paul Spadafora (43-0, 17KOs) returned to the ring at the Heinz Field VIP Tent in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, winning an eight round unanimous decision over Jermaine White (17-4, 9KOs). Spadafore dominated White before a crowd on 1,200 fans. It was Spadafora's second fight of the year. Trainer Pernell Whitaker was impressed with Spadafora's performance. He wants to get him back in the ring as soon as possible. A november/December return is being discussed.
The win over White was a dirty contest. White tried several dirty tactics in the ring to throw Spadafora off. The former champ fought fire with fire, and lost a point in the final round for an intentional headbutt.
"You gotta take it to the street. I am a boxer, but I've been in this game my whole life. You can be dirty, but you ain't going to get dirtier than me," Spadafora said to the Pittsburgh Tribune.
