According to reports in Mexico, Humberto Soto will defend his WBC lightweight title against undefeated mandatory Anthony Peterson on the Miguel Cotto vs. Yuri Foreman undercard on June 5 at Yankee Stadium in New York. Soto won the vacant title last Saturday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He won a unanimous twelve round decision over former champion David Diaz.
One report mentioned Soto-Peterson as being the possible "HBO televised" co-feature. Top Rank is talking with HBO about the possibility of adding that fight as the televised opener.
