Welterweight contender Jesus Soto Karass has been a considerable underdog in his past two fights versus Andre Berto and Selcuk Aydin. Soto Karass visited with us on a recent edition of BoxingScene Radio and said that being the favorite or the underdog isn't important to him and that he will fight whoever his team wants him to face.
He also said that he feels that he has proven his critics wrong with his performances in these last two fights.
"Whoever they want to put me in with, as the A side or B side it doesn't matter. Little by little I think I'm closing everybody's mouths. They still talk but I'm starting to shut them up. They can say what they want but I just want to keep winning," Soto Karass explained.
Soto Karass admitted that Berto packed a good punch and praised the Haitian-American for his toughness.
"Berto got me with some good shots. He got my attention at the end of the 4th round with an upper cut. At some points I was like this son of a b*tch is a strong motherf***er but other than that I wasn't really worried about it and knew I could take it," Soto Karass told BoxingScene Radio.
Berto hurt his right shoulder early in the fight and after the fight he said he thought he tore his right shoulder out of the socket. He felt the fight would have had a different outcome if he hadn't suffered the injury. Soto Karass took Berto's comments in stride by praising him for continuing to fight.
"If he hurt his shoulder I don't really know. He was throwing a lot of right hands regardless. I'm not taking anything away from him, he kept fighting and he's a tough guy. He deserves credit," said Soto Karass.
