ONE Championship is moving into the boxing business and the Singapore headquartered promotion has signed up one of the sport’s biggest stars. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will defend his WBC 115lbs title on a card the promotion is holding in Bangkok on October 6th.

ONE: ‘Kingdom of Heroes’ is set for the Impact Arena. The entire event will take place inside a ring, not a cage, and the main event will feature Srisaket who has not fought in Thailand since becoming a breakout star in the US.

Srisaket (45-4-1) became a household name in Thailand after back to back wins over Roman Gonzalez, who at the time was regarded by many as being the pound for pound king. He last fought in February, claiming a mixed decision win over Juan Estrada.

The super flyweight has a tune up bout coming up later this month. Srisaket faces Young Gil Bae (28-6-2) in a 120lbs, ten round fight tune up fight that will be broadcast live on Workpoint TV in Thailand on July 21st.

Thainchai Pisitwuttinan of Nakornloung Promotion was at a press conference in Bangkok on Monday afternoon (local time) to promote ONE: ‘Kingdom of Heroes’ He told the media,

“Our work in boxing has always been driven by our passion and love. The best part of it is that we get to give life-turning opportunities to boxers and their families. Each of them has their own stories, but they are all driven by the same dream - to be the world champion. I am glad that our promotion and ONE Championship have coalesced in having a common mission and vision for combat sports athletes around the globe. I just cannot begin to say how massive of an event this will be. History will be made on 6 October.”

Srisaket’s October 6th opponent will be announced at a later date. Under WBC regulations he can defend his title against any super flyweight currently ranked in the top 15.
