LAS VEGAS - Mexico's Ulises Solis successfully defended his IBF junior flyweight championship Thursday night when Will Grigsby failed to answer the bell before the ninth round in the scheduled 12-round fight.

The 25-year-old Solis (23-1-2) dominated the first eight rounds before the 36-year-old Grigsby (18-4-1) failed to come out for the ninth round.

There were no knockdowns during the bout.

Solis, who weighed in at 108-pounds, won the title a year ago with a 12-round unanimous decision over Grigsby.

On the undercard:

The near seven-foot, 270-pound Tye Fields (37-1, 33 KOs) won a unanimous ten round decision over journeyman Kendrick Releford. The scores were 98-92, 99-91 and 99-91.
 
Hot middleweight prospect Andy Lee (7-0, 4 KOs) stopped Arturo Ortega (12-3-3, 7 KOs) in the sixth round.
