MIAMI—After a short break, junior featherweight prospect Hairon "El Maja" Socarras is back in the gym anticipation of an upcoming showdown with Alexis Kabore. The bout is targeted for late June in Miami, where Socarras is presently training.

Kabore (25-1) hails from Burkina Faso. The 32 years old is ranked as number five in the WBC. He snatched the WBC International title from Filipino Silvester Lopez, was competitive in a knockout loss to unbeaten Rey Vargas last year.

Socarras’ handlers are presently exploring different options to stage the headliner in Miami. The show will also include rising prospect Neslan Machado.

Socarras has not fought since a 2nd round knockout of Mexico’s Jesus Galicia, last December. The win was big, as Galicia was highly-ranked by the WBC, with Socarras’ teams targeting such opponents to help climb the rankings.

"We are trying to reach an agreement with Kabore team, and the talks are very well advanced and on track,” informed Jose Perez of Arena Box, Socarras’ promoter. “We hope that soon we can solve everything and will announce this fight to put Hairon Socarras closer to a title shot.”
