By Reynaldo “El Chingo Malo” Sanchez
Hairon "El Maja" Socarras 14-0-1 (10 KOs) is training intensively for his next fight on August 15 at The Mana Wynwood in Miami, Florida. The rising prospect faces Jorge Sanchez 14-0-0 (9 KO's) in a main event battle of unbeaten junior featherweights on a card aptly titled “Crowning of Champions.”
Jorge Rubio—Socarras’ trainer since his pro debut”—insists this will be the most important fight of his fighter’s career.
"On August 15th, we have a fight here in front of our fans in Miami, and that forces us to reach the best technical and tactical condition possible. We do not feel any pressure about this, but we know that we must look stunning and make clear that Hairon has the talent to stand tall against the best in the 122-pound weight class.”
In turn, Alex Hernandez—Socarras’ strength and conditioning coach—has the same thought and believed that this fight is vitally important for his career.
”Physical preparation of a top athlete has to be well designed, a set of elements that encompasses not only their routines on the physical side, but also a well-structured supply plan,” notes Hernandez. “Hairon must be in his best shape for this very important fight, and we will see that on August 15 in Miami.
Javier Socarras, Hairon father adds” "Every fight and every opponent is different; now we face in Jorge Sanchez, another undefeated fighter who will try to win. Hairon is working hard to be prepared for whatever Sanchez presents that night.”
Socarras remains focused on August 15, well aware that a win helps shape up his already promising future.
"In every training camp, we seek to improve and correct,” Socarras reveals. “In boxing you never stop learning and try to stay physically and mentally ahead of the game. When you have the desire, dedication and desire to succeed, the effort made in the gym leads the way for positive results.
“As far as what’s next with a win on August 15—that depends on what the people who manage my career can obtain—Arena Box and Veloz Boxing. We are ready to face the best. If you want to be the best you have to test yourself against the best. I'm not saying I'm going to beat everyone, but I have confidence in my conditioning and my skills.”
