Belford Today reports that heavyweight Matt Skelton (21-1, 18KOs), holder of the Commonwealth (British Empire) title, has turned down a potential third fight with Danny Williams, who holds another version of the British heavyweight title. Instead Skelton will return on the Nov. 3 undercard to Joe Calzaghe-Mikkel Kessler super middleweight unification at the the Millennium Stadium in Wales. The opponent has yet to be named.
Skelton hopes that another win could lead to a showdown with unbeaten Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko (26-0, 16KOs) for the vacant EBU title. Dimitrenko faces Timo Hoffman on November 11 in Germany.
"They are looking at several opponents and are just waiting to get confirmation on one of them. I've been training, anyway. There's talk it might be American. They've just been trying to find someone who is a good match up for me. It's a non-title fight, but it doesn't mean it will be an easy fight," Skelton said.
