BoxingScene.com recently spoke to WBA light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov who has been inactive over the last 12 months.  Shumenov said that he has been working out and that they hope to finalize his next fight soon.

"I am always in the gym. I am always working out and I am ready. Hopefully in the next week or two we will announce my next fight,". Shumenov revealed.

Two names that Shumenov mentioned that he is interested in are Andre Ward and Carl Froch. Ward is targeting a late summer/fall return while Froch avenged his loss to Mikkel Kessler last month in a thrilling victory and plans on returning to the ring in the fall as well.  If either fighter wants to move up in weight and challenge for a title in another weight class, Shumenov said he is more than willing to accommodate them.

"I would love to fight Carl Froch. If Froch wants to fight a champion he can fight me for my title. Mikkel Kessler would be good too but he just lost. If Andre Ward wants to move up we would like to fight him too. We are interested in all of those guys," Shumenov told BoxingScene.com.
