There is a plethora of boxing scheduled for July 16th that involves boxers affiliated with Al Haymon and Premier Boxing Champions. The question is will Showtime be televising any of it?
WBC heavyweight titlist, Deontay Wilder takes on Chris Arreola in Alabama, WBC light heavyweight belt-holder Adonis Stevenson faces Thomas Williams and there are rumors that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will also return on this date.
Showtime has featured and pushed all three A-side fighters on their network in recent years.
Stephen Espinoza, the head of Showtime Sports explained to BoxingScene.com - "We've been discussing it but it really wasn't in our plan. Not that we can't alter course but I'd say it's probably unlikely that we do something on July 16th just because we've already set the schedule for the summer already and allocated money accordingly.
"So it's an attractive range of fights on that date but as is always the case there's not an endless budget supply. So as much as we'd like to do those, I'm not sure we'll be in the running."
Showtime announced a scheduled of fights back in early March that included a July 30th date that features a doubleheader of Leo Santa Cruz-Carl Frampton and Danny Jacobs-Sergio Mora from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York.
