Showtime Sports head Stephen Espinoza will be keeping a close eye on behavior of former four division world champion Adrien Broner (32-2, 24KOs).
Last week Showtime announced that Broner would appear on the network on February 11th, when he takes on Adrian Granados at a venue and location to be announced.
Broner has been out of the ring since April when he stopped Ashley Theophane. He held the WBA junior welterweight title at the time of the fight, but lost it on the scale after being unable to make the division limit of 140-pounds.
Since that fight, Broner has created a lot of headlines for the wrong reason. He spent 30 days in jail after appearing three hours late for court appearance connected to a January incident where a man was claiming that Broner had battered him over a high stakes bowling game.
A few weeks ago, Broner posted messages on social medial that hinted at the possibility of committing suicide. To make matters worse, more recently a Las Vegas waitress claimed the boxer had assaulted her.
Broner had flown out to Vegas to get back on the right track, and he is being assisted by five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Espinoza is very familiar with Broner's behavior outside the ring and he plans to keep himself well informed. And if a problem comes arises, Espinoza is prepared to take that televised date in another direction.
“We do monitor those things,” Espinoza said to the Las Vegas Review Journal. “We believe we have good sense in where (Broner) is right now. We’ll continue to monitor it, and if we have to, we would change course.”
