Shingo Wake extended his win streak to eight straight after knocking out Philippines' Jimmy Paypa inside of one round Friday evening in Tokyo, Japan.

A right-left combination put Paypa down late in the round, separating him from his senses to where he struggled to remain upright upon beating the count. The referee didn't like the reaction, immediately calling an end to the fight.

The official time was 2:59 of round one. Paypa ends a 15-fight unbeaten streak with the defeat, falling to 16-3-1 (6KOs). The bout was his first outside of his native Philippines.

Wake moves to 18-4-2 (11KO) with the win. Among his current run of good fortune in the ring, Wake has now stopped each of his last six opponents after having scored just five knockouts in his first 15 pro fights.
