In what is set to be yet another spectacular fight added to the Les Sherrington vs “Yori Boy” Campas undercard, the hard hitting Philippine Jack “The Assassin” Asis will step into the ring against Japanese boxer Ryusei Yoshida.
Asis, originally from the Philippines but who now calls Smithy’s Gym in Toowoomba home, is on a role of late, beating two international fighters including the number 1 from the USA Nestor Rocha and knocking out two Australian champions. After going unchallenged for more than 12 months Asis chose to relinquish his junior welterweight Australian title and was denied a shot at the Australian junior lightweight title after the champion relinquished upon receiving the challenge from Jack.
It was finally Japanese fighter Yoshida that answered the call to step in the ring with Asis who is fast becoming one of the most feared fighters in the Australian boxing circuit with a multi-national fan base that is growing as fast as his reputation and no doubt will be visible in their trademark red headbands on July 28.
However, Yoshida who has a record of 22 wins and 3 losses, a fighter who has KO’d 6 opponents in his last 10 victories, is one of Japans best and poses a huge challenge for Asis.
The fight is scheduled to take place on the “Resurrection” fight night on July 28 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition center which will be headlined by the highly anticipated world title clash between Australia’s world champion Les “Lock N Load” Sherrington and Mexican knock out king “Yori Boy” Campas.
The undercard will also feature undefeated Irish star Dennis Hogan taking on tough Philippine fighter Arnel Tinampay. As well rising Australian star “The Great White” Brayd Smith will step in to the ring against experienced Thai fighter Yong Sathong, along with other great fights which will be announced over the next week.
Tickets are available from Ticketek at $20 for children and $37 for adults.
