IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs) is looking for another highlight worthy performance when he steps into the ring this coming Saturday night against mandatory challenger Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Earlier this year, Porter looked like a small bulldozer as he powered past the usually durable Paulie Malignaggi in four easy rounds. He wants a similar type of performance against Brook.
"More than anything, [the knockout of Malignaggi] made me realize that I need to put on another spectacular performance this time around so that I can get what's coming," Porter said.
Porter says there was nothing special doing in camp to prepare for Brook's style of fighting. He, and his father/trainer Kenny Porter, saw nothing in Brook's style to require any specialized preparation.
"No, nothing specific [was done to prepare for Brook]. There's nothing too complicated or unorthodox about his style. So I didn't need to bring in any kind of specialist to spar, or plan for anything too different," Porter said.
"This being home now makes everything that much easier. Nothing's complicated and I'm able to keep it easy."
