Brooklyn, New York - Still in good spirits, Shawn Porter showed up in Brooklyn to support his friends Danny Jacobs and Peter Quillin, who battled last Saturday night at the Barclays Center.
But his visit was also to tell the media of his desire to get WBA "regular" welterweight champion Keith Thurman in the ring. Though it may be frustrating to not have this fight lined up, Porter remains ready.
“We go through a lot of emotions especially when the business isn’t going the way we want it to go,” Porter told BoxingScene.com. “We just want to get a date and we fight. The team is still in the right frame of mine”
Porter wanted to let the world knows the only fight he wants right now is Thurman.
“Absolutely we are outing him,” Porter said in calling out Thurman. “At this point this is what we want. Keith is the only thing I’m focused on. We hoping to get some answers. After they tell me I can’t fight Keith, then we can look at other opponents.”
Porter puts the onus on Thurman for the fight not being signed.
“I been saying next week for the last 5 weeks,” explained Porter about the fight not being official. “It ain’t me being the reason that this fight isn’t signed yet. Maybe they want me to take some time off and fall off, so they can catch me not on my best.”
