Former champion Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) has received plenty of criticism over the past for years for his ring inactivity. Khan has twice been a bridesmaid for a Floyd Mayweather Jr. mega-fight and recently was passed over by Manny Pacquiao in favor of a trilogy bout against Tim Bradley.
Khan hasn't been very active while waiting for Mayweather and Pacquiao to pick their opponents and has only fought 4 times in the past 3 plus years. His last ring appearance came in May when he struggled with former junior welterweight titlist Chris Algieri.
Even with the inactivity and recent struggles, former welterweight champion Shawn Porter has a lot of respect for the Bolton native and believes that he is still at the top of his game.
"I think that is a bad strategy but I do know that this guy has skills. He has a European style and he is tricky. It remains to seen but in my mind he has the same skills that he always has had. I don't like to get into that stuff (about his inactivity) but I believe he is still a good fighter,' Porter told Boxingscene.com.
Khan has recently stated that he will take a March tune up fight and then decide between facing newly crowned WBC champion Danny Garcia in a rematch or domestic rival and IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook in June.
