Early last month, BoxingScene.com first reported that promoter Gary Shaw had finalized a deal to merge his company with new promotional player Roc Nation Sports. As part of the deal, he brought over the bulk of his stable - including undefeated heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings and middleweight contender Tureano Johnson.

The merger was short-lived. This past Monday, Shaw officially revealed that he parted ways with Roc Nation. The reason for the rapid break was never revealed, but industry sources indicate an internal rift where there were "too many Chiefs and not enough Indians."

On Wednesday in New York, a press conference was held to officially announce the April 25th HBO televised fight between Jennings and WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko.

During the press conference, Jennings told BoxingScene.com that he still considered himself to be a Roc Nation fighter. Jennings is managed by James Prince, who also has recent Roc Nation signee Andre Ward.

"My affiliation with the Roc still stands. That's pretty much all it is. Only thing that people like to do is ask questions, which is no harm, but the answers are not really going to come out of my mouth because it's not my position to disclose anything. It's my business, you can me how I feel about what it is. But like I said my affiliation with the Roc still stands, so that leaves me in the clear..no answers, no nothing from me. That's how it goes and we are still who we are," Jennings told BoxingScene.com.

Shaw says there is no doubt as to which company holds a legal claim to Jennings.

"He belongs to Gary Shaw. I have a contract with him. I produced his last three fights at Madison Square Garden. I'm producing him the heavyweight championship of the world. I think it says Gary Shaw Productions on the banner. I can't speak for Bryant or what's going through his head...I can only speak for myself," Shaw told BoxingScene.com

Johnson also raised some eyebrows with his recent comments about the Shaw/Roc Nation split, when he took to his personal Twitter page and hinted as a possible legal battle because he refuses to "sit on the shelf."

"I love Tureano. I didn't read what he said. I didn't see no tweets. But they are all Gary Shaw fighters. They are all have contracts with Gary Shaw. And Tureano just fought less than a month ago. When you say you're on the shelf and you fought 25 days ago, that's unfair by any promoter's standards, manager's standard and most likely most fighters as well," Shaw said.

Does Shaw expects Roc Nation to go after Jennings, Johnson or other Shaw fighters?

"No, not at all. It was an amicable split. When I went there, all of the fighters came with me and now it's like it was before," Shaw said.
