Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs (49-5-1, 43 KOs) stopped Rafael Pedro (20-9-1) in 28-seconds at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. It was Briggs' 28th first round knockout. Briggs landed a right hand that caught Pedro flush and put him down for the full count.
“That’s all I needed. It was a fast night for me but that’s how a lot of my fights end,” Briggs said after the bout.
The win was Briggs' second since returning from a near two-year layoff last December. Briggs is 38-years-old and wants to work his way to one final title shot.
