Contrary to some of the information being reported on several outlets, there have been no discussions between Golden Boy Promotions and DiBella Ent. for a unification bout between WBA champion Shane Mosley and WBC champion Andre Berto. During the last few days, Mosley made it clear that he plans to return by the end of the year and ordered Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer to get him a fight. The names thrown around were Joshua Clottey, Paul Williams, Andre Berto and Kermit Cintron. Among those four, Berto, an unbeaten champion, is the reported frontrunner to land Mosley.
When reached for comment, Berto's promoter Lou DiBella told BoxingScene.com that he reached out to Golden Boy when several articles began to circulate with direct comments from Schaefer, who made it known that Mosley was interested in fighting Berto. DiBella has not heard back from Golden Boy, at least not yet.
"I made a few calls to Golden Boy. Andre is very interested in the fight. He wants to fight Mosley. I've never had a problem making fights with Golden Boy. I think we can make this fight," DiBella said.
