A deal has been officially reached to match former champions Shane Mosley and Ricardo Mayorga on October 11 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Both Don King and Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, confirmed the deal to Dan Rafael. The deal gives a 55-45 split in favor of Golden Boy.

The agreed upon weight appears to be 154-pounds. Mosley has held his last couple of fights at 147, but appears just as comfortable at junior middleweight. Mayorga last fought at 166-pounds, winning a decision over Fernando Vargas last October. King told Rafael that a win over Mosley would send Mayorga down to welterweight to push for a fight with WBA champion Miguel Cotto.

"That's done. The deal is done," King said. "We'll kick Shane's ass and send lonesome Bob (Arum) a message that we want Cotto and we are prepared to beat Cotto."

The fight will be televised on HBO pay-per-view.
