On May 28th former three-division champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley (49-9-1) will return to the ring against WBA David Avanesyan (21-1-1) at the Gila River Arena in the greater Phoenix area.
A few weeks Mosley announced that he had hooked up with hall of fame fighter Roberto Duran for the upcoming fight. Mosley fought in Panama in December and announced how the union came to fruition
"I have always seen him at different fights here and there. He likes my style and has wanted to try and improve it. He is a legend and I am very happy to train with him," Mosley revealed.
Mosley, now 44-years-old, hopes that capturing the WBA interim title will be a launching pad for him to secure a mega-fight. Even at his advanced age, he feels that he still has what it takes to defeat the sport's elite.
"I don't really care who it is. I just want the big fights after. I would love to fight the top fights. Any of the top guys, I want to fight those types of fights," stated Mosley who is very confident that Duran will make him an even better fighter.
"I don't know what Roberto Duran has in store for me yet but the fans can expect to see very sharp 'Sugar' Shane Mosley."
